Malala Yousafzai Introduces Oxford Scholarships for Palestinian Students

Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai is making headlines again, this time for championing education in Palestine.

During a recent fundraising dinner at Oxford University, she announced a new scholarship program specifically for Palestinian students.

“More than 80 percent of schools and universities in Gaza have been either damaged or completely destroyed,” she stated, highlighting the devastating impact of the ongoing conflict on education. She called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the rebuilding of its educational infrastructure.

“There is a need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the rebuilding of educational institutions,” Malala stressed. “We need to share the stories of Palestinian students and provide them with direct funding.”

The Nobel Peace Prize winner underscored the importance of education in fostering hope and resilience, declaring, “We need to share the stories of Palestinian students and provide them with direct funding. By announcing these scholarships, we are not only offering financial support but also sending a message of solidarity.”

The first recipient of this scholarship will begin their studies at Oxford University’s Lady Margaret Hall this October. This initiative marks a significant step towards supporting Palestinian students in their pursuit of higher education amidst challenging circumstances.
