Touqeer Nasir Admits to Rejecting Saba Qamar During Audition
Veteran Pakistani actor Touqeer Nasir recently revealed that he had once rejected acclaimed actress Saba Qamar during an audition for his production. The revelation came during his appearance on a private TV show hosted by Naeem Hanif, where Nasir opened up about his experience working with Saba Qamar and the reasons behind his decision to turn her down in the past.
While discussing Saba Qamar’s career, Touqeer Nasir praised her acting abilities, stating, “Saba Qamar is a brilliant actress. She did an amazing job in the drama serial ‘Thakkan’ with me.” He further elaborated on his admiration for her talent, highlighting her strong performance in the industry.
However, Nasir went on to disclose a lesser-known anecdote: he once conducted an audition for Saba Qamar but chose not to cast her. He explained, “I once took an audition of Saba and didn’t select her because I didn’t find her committed at the time. She delivered her dialogues in a hurry and seemed rushed. She even admitted that she was in a rush.” He clarified that he was in search of new actors for his ARY Digital drama serial and wanted to choose individuals who showed long-term potential, as he planned to induct them into his academy.
Touqeer Nasir’s comments provided an intriguing glimpse into the casting process and the high standards he maintains when selecting talent for his projects. He emphasized his dedication to finding actors who demonstrate both commitment and a willingness to grow within the industry.
Apart from his work as an actor and producer, Touqeer Nasir has also served in the government as the Director General (DG) of the Pakistan National Council of Arts. Throughout his illustrious career, he has been involved in several notable dramas, including “Yaad Piya Ki Aye,” “Thakan,” “Baal o Par,” “Kashkol,” “Sona Chandi,” “Landa Bazaar,” “Rahain,” “Reza Reza,” “Panah,” “Aik Haqeeqat Aik Afsana,” “Samandar,” and “Dehleez.” His contributions to the field of art and culture have been recognized by the government of Pakistan, awarding him the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
Despite the past rejection, both Touqeer Nasir and Saba Qamar have carved out successful careers in the entertainment industry, with each continuing to earn acclaim for their work.
