‘Twilight’ Fans Rejoice: New Animated Series Based on ‘Midnight Sun’ Coming to Netflix
Exciting news for Twilight fans! Streaming giant Netflix has officially ordered a new animated series based on Midnight Sun, a companion novel to Stephanie Meyer’s iconic Twilight saga. This new series will offer fans a fresh perspective by narrating the story from Edward Cullen’s point of view, rather than Bella Swan’s, as in the original novels.
As reported by an international entertainment publication, Netflix has partnered with Lionsgate Television, the studio behind the project, which was first reported last year. The series was confirmed as an animated production in March 2024 by Lionsgate, and now Netflix is on board to bring the much-anticipated adaptation to screens.
The writing duties for Midnight Sun have been handed to Sinead Daly, known for her work on The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Raised by Wolves. Daly will also serve as an executive producer alongside Meyer, Meghan Hibbett, Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen, Emily Wissink, Erik Feig, and Samie Kim Falvey.
The Twilight series, which began as a literary sensation, was later adapted into a superhit film franchise starring Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner. The five-part film saga also featured a talented supporting cast including Billy Burke, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Ashley Greene, Kellan Lutz, Nikki Reed, and Jackson Rathbone, all of whom helped bring the story of vampires, werewolves, and forbidden love to life.
With Netflix’s involvement, fans are eagerly awaiting the animated take on Midnight Sun, curious to see how Edward Cullen’s perspective will be brought to life through this new medium.
