Yo Yo Honey Singh Opens Up About Divorce and His Journey to Recovery

Indian singer-rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has finally broken his silence regarding his divorce from ex-wife Shalini Talwar, revealing that his health began improving following their separation. In a candid interview with an Indian YouTuber, the Desi Kalakaar star shared how his personal life impacted his well-being and how he now feels like he’s in a “changed world.”

“Mere ko nahi affect kiya kuch bhi (It didn’t affect me at all),” Singh said, adding that the separation happened unexpectedly. Reflecting on the aftermath, he stated, “Main Beemar tha, theek tou tha he nahi. Jab mera separation hua, uske baad main theek hona shuru hua hu, uske baad meri dawaai kum hui hai. Uske baad symptoms aana band hue hen (I was not well. After my separation, I started to get better; since then, I’ve reduced my medication and stopped having any symptoms).”

Singh, who had been struggling with health issues for years, shared that the split allowed him to focus on recovery, after seven years of confinement at home due to his illness.

During the interview, Singh also revealed that he and Shalini Talwar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) which prohibits both from discussing each other in the media.

Their Journey to Divorce
Yo Yo Honey Singh and Shalini Talwar, who were married in 2011, filed for divorce in 2022, ending their 11-year marriage. The Delhi court granted them a formal divorce in November of last year. The couple’s separation followed legal proceedings after Talwar filed a domestic violence case against the rapper in August 2021. Singh denied the allegations, calling them “odious, false, and malicious” in a social media post. The accusations were later withdrawn after a settlement was reached between the two.

A New Chapter in Music
On the professional front, Honey Singh recently made a comeback with his multi-lingual album, Glory, which features collaborations with artists from around the globe, including Pakistan. The 18-track album was released on August 26, marking a significant return for the artist after a prolonged hiatus.
