Momal Sheikh Compares Her Family to Bollywood’s Kapoor Dynasty
Pakistani actor Momal Sheikh, daughter of veteran actor Javed Sheikh, has likened her family’s prominence in the entertainment industry to that of Bollywood’s famous Kapoor family. In a recent interview with fellow actor Ushna Shah, Momal embraced the comparison, stating that her family holds a similar position in Lollywood.
“Yes, if you include Behroze and Saleem uncles’ families, we are the Kapoors of Pakistan,” Momal said. She went on to explain her family tree, noting that while they are the “Sheikhs,” her uncle Behroze Sabzwari is married to her father’s sister, Safeena Sheikh. “Salim chacha and baba (Javed Sheikh) are brothers, and like the Kapoors, we are the Sheikh family of Lollywood,” she added.
Momal Sheikh, the elder daughter of Javed Sheikh and his first wife Zinat Mangi, is part of a family deeply embedded in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Her brother Shahzad Sheikh and paternal uncle Saleem Sheikh are both actors. Behroze Sabzwari, married to Safeena Sheikh, is another prominent figure in the industry, and their son, Shahroz Sabzwari, continues the family legacy in acting.
Shahroz was previously married to actor Syra Yousuf before marrying supermodel Sadaf Kanwal in 2020, adding further to the family’s well-known presence in the media industry.
The Sheikhs, much like the Kapoors in India, have built a lasting legacy in Pakistani cinema and television, spanning multiple generations.
