Alia Bhatt Officially Adopts Ranbir Kapoor’s Surname Two Years After Marriage

Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has officially adopted her husband Ranbir Kapoor’s surname, two years after the couple tied the knot. The revelation came during a promo shared by Netflix for an upcoming episode of “The Great Indian Kapil Show,” where Bhatt surprised fans by referring to herself as ‘Alia Bhatt Kapoor.’

The actress, who married Ranbir Kapoor in April 2022, had not previously used her married name in public. The couple welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor, later that year, but this was the first time Bhatt introduced herself as ‘Alia Bhatt Kapoor.’

During her appearance on the show, Bhatt was speaking with comedian Sunil Grover, who addressed her as ‘Alia Bhatt.’ The actress quickly corrected him, saying, “It’s Alia Bhatt Kapoor,” marking the first official use of her new surname.

Ranbir Kapoor and his mother, Neetu Kapoor, were also present on the show alongside Bhatt, who is currently promoting her upcoming film ‘Jigra,’ co-starring Vedang Raina.

Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor previously shared the screen in Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra: Part 1 – Shiva,’ and fans can look forward to seeing them together again in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much-anticipated ‘Love and War.’

However, the release of ‘Love and War,’ originally scheduled for Christmas 2025, has been postponed to March 20, 2026, as announced by the filmmakers earlier this week.

In the meantime, Bhatt’s next big release, ‘Jigra,’ is set to hit theatres on October 11. Additionally, she will star in the upcoming action film “Alpha,” where she and Sharvari Wagh will play super agents.
