Sonakshi Sinha Opens Up About Parents’ Reaction to Her Interfaith Marriage with Zaheer Iqbal
In a recent interview with an Indian media outlet, Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha opened up about her interfaith marriage with fellow actor Zaheer Iqbal, revealing her parents’ supportive reaction to the union.
Sinha shared that her family had always been aware of her long-term relationship with Iqbal, and their support remained unwavering despite their differing religious backgrounds. “All friends and family knew about our relationship for years,” she said.
Speaking about her parents’ stance, the ‘Dabangg’ star added, “My dad was very happy. He said, ‘Jab miya biwi raazi toh kya karega kaazi (If the couple is ready to get married, who can stop them)?’”
Sinha’s mother, actress Poonam Sinha, who herself had a love marriage, was equally accepting. “My mom knew him well. She herself had a love marriage, so she understands,” Sonakshi concluded.
The couple tied the knot in an intimate civil ceremony on June 23 at Iqbal’s apartment in Bandra. Later that evening, they hosted a glamorous reception for their celebrity friends at Bastian, a popular Mumbai eatery.
Having dated for nearly seven years, Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding was a culmination of a long-standing relationship that had been kept mostly private.
