Diljit Dosanjh Served Legal Notice Over Ticket Pricing Controversy for Dil-Luminati Tour

Indian actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has been served with a legal notice by a Delhi-based law student, Riddhima Kapoor, over alleged malpractices in ticket sales for his upcoming Dil-Luminati concert tour in India.

According to Indian media reports, Kapoor has accused Dosanjh’s concert organizers of violating consumer rights after she failed to secure tickets for the Indian leg of the much-anticipated tour, set to begin next month.

In the legal notice, titled “Manipulation for ticket prices, unfair trade practices, and scalping of tickets for Diljit Dosanjh’s Dil-Luminati India Tour,” Kapoor detailed her grievances regarding the ticket sale process. She claims that although general sales were supposed to open at 1:00 p.m. on September 12, tickets were made available a minute earlier, at 12:59 p.m., and sold out within 60 seconds. This left hundreds of fans, including Kapoor, without the chance to purchase a ticket for the Delhi show.

Kapoor also highlighted that she specifically acquired an HDFC credit card to gain early-bird access to tickets, but despite the money being deducted from her account, she did not receive her ticket. Her payment was later refunded.

“This abrupt and suspicious transaction strongly suggests manipulation and scalping practices,” the notice read. “The sudden unavailability of tickets indicates that your organisation may be artificially inflating demand and manipulating prices, which constitutes an unfair trade practice under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019.”

Kapoor further accused the event organizers of engaging in “scalping and hoarding of tickets with an intent to resell them at inflated prices,” which she argued is a clear violation of consumer rights.

Apart from Dosanjh, the legal notice was also served to event partners, including Zomato, HDFC Bank, and Saregama Pvt. Ltd. None of the parties involved have yet responded to the allegations.

The Indian leg of the Dil-Luminati tour is set to kick off on October 26 with a performance at Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, followed by concerts in several cities, including Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Pune, Kolkata, Bangalore, Indore, Chandigarh, and Guwahati.

As fans eagerly await the start of the tour, this controversy has sparked concerns over transparency and fairness in the ticketing process.
