Fazila Qazi Criticizes Presidential Awards for Favoring Personal Connections Over Merit
Veteran Pakistani actress Fazila Qazi has voiced her concerns over the distribution of Presidential Awards, claiming that the honors are often given based on personal connections rather than merit. She made these remarks during her appearance on Hansna Mana Hai with her husband, actor Qaiser Nizamani, hosted by Tabish Hashmi.
In the interview, Fazila Qazi expressed disappointment at how many deserving artists are overlooked when it comes to national recognition. “I am grateful that my husband received the Presidential Award during a time when awards were given based solely on an artist’s work and not recommendations,” she remarked sarcastically, as reported by Express News.
She also revealed that files are prepared for artists being considered for the award, but hers has been sitting idle for five years. Fazila voiced frustration with the authorities, noting that those in charge often ignore hardworking individuals in the industry.
