Salman Khan Takes Legal Action Against News Agency; Demands Apology

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has officially served a legal notice to an Indian news agency, demanding an apology in response to allegations claiming he has connections to the underworld. This legal action comes after a controversial article was published earlier this month, suggesting that Khan has “known connections” with the notorious underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and his network, known as ‘D-Company.’

The article referenced statements from lawyer Amit Mishra, who represents Vicky Gupta and Sagar Pal—two individuals involved in a firing incident near Khan’s Bandra residence in April. Mishra claimed that his clients were facing threats from D-Company due to their alleged ties with the actor.

In response, Khan has vehemently denied these allegations, describing them as “unfounded, defamatory, and designed to tarnish his reputation.” His legal notice, issued through his attorneys, states, “Our client denies all the allegations made by Mishra against him in the Impugned Article and asserts that the claims are absolutely false, baseless, malicious, grossly defamatory, misleading, and damaging.”

The notice further emphasizes that the allegations have no factual basis and are intended to defame and harm Khan’s long-established reputation. It characterizes the claims as a tactic to gain public sympathy and distract from the original incident involving Gupta and Pal.

Khan’s legal team has demanded that the news agency and Mishra publish an unconditional apology in major newspapers within 48 hours, as well as retract the original article. The notice warns that failure to comply will result in appropriate criminal and/or civil legal proceedings against them.

On the film front, Salman Khan is currently working on his much-anticipated action film Sikandar, alongside co-stars Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, and Sathyaraj. Directed by AR Murugadoss, the film is set for a theatrical release on Eid 2025.
