Lahore Court Cancels Interim Bail of Actress Nazish Jahangir in Fraud Case

A Lahore session court has cancelled the interim bail of actress Nazish Jahangir in a fraud case filed by the Defence C police station. The court dismissed her bail on Friday due to non-pursuance.

The fraud case was initiated by fellow actress Azan Aswad Haroon, who accused Jahangir of borrowing Rs 2.5 million and a car for two months. Despite the agreed timeline, Haroon claimed that neither the money nor the car was returned after the two months had passed.

While Jahangir’s bail was revoked, the court extended the interim bail of her co-accused, Sikandar, until the first week of October.

The case has drawn considerable public attention due to the involvement of two well-known figures from the entertainment industry, shedding light on the legal challenges celebrities often face.

Past Legal Issues

Nazish Jahangir’s legal troubles are not new. In 2020, the actress was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) cybercrime wing in Karachi as part of a case involving charges of blackmail, harassment, and the dissemination of fake videos and posts. She was taken into custody along with actor and singer Mohsin Abbas Haider, following a complaint by Haider’s former wife, Fatima Sohail.

Fatima Sohail had accused both Jahangir and Haider of harassing her online and circulating fake content, following earlier accusations against Haider for domestic abuse and an alleged extramarital affair with Jahangir. After a prolonged legal battle, both Jahangir and Haider were found guilty of cyber harassment by the FIA.

Jahangir, who maintained her innocence throughout the case, faced charges under Pakistan’s cybercrime laws, further complicating her public and professional image.

As this new fraud case unfolds, Jahangir’s legal challenges continue to garner significant media attention.
